Massimo Pancione, PhD is Associate Professor of Molecular Biology in the Department of Science and Technology at the University of Sannio (Via Francesco De Sanctis 11, 82100 Benevento, Italy). His research output includes approximately 60 peer-reviewed publications, and his scholarly profile is available on Google Scholar.

Dr. Pancione's research focuses on the role of cytoplasmic ribonucleoprotein condensates (RNA–protein assemblies) in the regulation of cell division and cell fate decisions. His laboratory combines functional imaging, bioinformatics, genetics, and biochemical approaches to investigate these processes in mammalian systems.

He collaborates extensively with national and international research groups and serves as a reviewer for several high-impact scientific journals, including Journal of Translational Medicine, Scientific Reports (Nature Portfolio), Open Biology, The EMBO Journal, iScience (Cell Press), and others.

His scientific career began at the Department of Biochemical Sciences of the University of Naples Federico II, where he conducted undergraduate research on the role of cAMP response elements in the promoter region of the Retinol Binding Protein (RBP) gene. He subsequently received a postgraduate fellowship from the Italian National Research Council (CNR) to investigate the epigenetic deregulation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) in human diseases.

After earning his PhD in Life Sciences, Dr. Pancione focused on elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying rare genetic diseases, with particular emphasis on the functional characterization of previously unstudied genes. He was also a visiting scientist at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Faculty of Pharmacy, Complutense University of Madrid, Spain.

In 2015, he established his independent research program and has since developed a multidisciplinary research line dedicated to understanding the molecular basis of cell fate regulation and disease.
