Research Interests

Primary cilia, Tissue remodelling, Cardiovascular disease, Glucocorticoid transport, Fibroadipogenic progenitors

My research began by investigating the impact of different diets on cardiac remodelling in obesity using murine models, where we identified the primary cilium as a key regulator of fibrogenesis in the adult heart. I now work in neuromuscular disease, where the primary cilium has also been shown to play an important role. My current research interests have expanded to understanding how biomechanical changes in the tissue microenvironment regulate the fate of fibroadipogenic progenitors (FAPs) in skeletal muscle and heart. As the primary cilium is a key mechanosensor, I am interested in exploring its role in linking mechanical cues to FAP function in muscle regeneration and disease.
